The minors, as indicated in the court action, were separated from their families and handed over to this center in September 2014 and remained there until May 2019.

The legal action points to Evelyn Oñate Camano, in charge of Nido, Sename’s collaborating residence, as the alleged cover-up of the illicit crimes perpetrated against these children. According to the document, she would have been in charge of taking the children to separate rooms on the premises, where they were sexually abused by adult men and women. The complaint also accuses Oñate of committing acts of sexual connotation against minors.

Adults who came to the place, as the court action emphasizes, after committing the crimes they made a payment to the director. She identified them as “Donors”.

Likewise, the complaint requests the temporary closure of the residence as a precautionary measure. “Considering the seriousness of the events described in the present complaint and the existence of these in an extended period of time”.

The Children’s Advocate, Patricia Muñoz, pointed out to Third that “the seriousness of the events, which would also have been sustained over time, not only merits action in the criminal sphere that establishes the responsibilities of all those who have participated in the commission of these crimes and effectively protects the victims, but also, as we have requested, it must involve the term of the intervention of said collaborating agency that has not been able to effectively protect the children in its care and actions that explain determine the administrative and eventually criminal responsibility of those who, from Sename, they had to prevent the occurrence of these very serious and unacceptable events ”.
