A earthquake of greater intensity was perceived at 00:10 hours this Tuesday in the regions of Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Metropolitana.
The National Seismological Center indicated that the magnitude was 7 Richter, located 55 kilometers north of Huasco, in the Atacama Region.
It had a depth of 31.3 kilometers.

At 00:30 a second tremor was registered in the same area: medium intensity, 6.2 Richter magnitude, located 40.1 kilometers north of Huasco, it was perceived in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo and Valparaíso.
A tsunami was also ruled out by this latest earthquake.

The mayor of Atacama, Patricio urquietaindicated that there are “some power outages at some intersections in the Chañaral and Tierra Amarilla communes, and damage to a building in the Copiapó commune.”
