A medium intensity earthquake it was perceived at 13:48 hours of this Sunday at regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá and Antofagasta.
The National Seismological Center reported that the magnitude was 6.1 on the Richter scale, with localized epicenter 30 kilometers northeast of Pica and the hypocenter 108 kilometers deep.
The National Emergency Office reported that, in the Arica and Parinacota Region, the highest intensity was IV Mercalli degrees in the towns of Arica, Codpa and Cuya.
More delicate was the situation in Tarapacá: Alto Hospicio, Camiña, Huara, Iquique and Pica experienced the earthquake with an intensity of VI degrees Mercalli.
In the Antofagasta Region, the highest intensities were in Calama, Quillagua and Tocopilla: IV Mercalli degrees.
“No damage to people, alteration of basic services or infrastructure is reported as a result of this earthquake,” said Onemi, while the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) ruled out risk of tsunami.
