About 500 migrants, mostly Venezuelans, will be transferred to nursing homes this afternoon, from Colchane to Iquique.
The migrants would have entered the country through steps not enabled, starring in confrontations against the police and the military.
According to the health authority, the people will be transferred to health shelters in the city of Iquique, where there are already around 1,600 people complying with mandatory quarantines.
Due to the large group of migrants who entered Chile irregularly, the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, will visit the place during the next few days to monitor the situation that, according to the authorities, unleashed a health and humanitarian crisis in the area.
