43 new cases of Covid-19 are registered in the Coquimbo region

This Sunday, November 29, the health authorities released a new report on 43 new cases of Covid, 5 corresponding to the commune of La Serena, 9 to Coquimbo, 3 to Illapel, 1 to Salamanca, 10 to Ovalle, 12 to Combarbalá and 3 to Punitaqui, reaching a cumulative total of 13,113 cases, of which 186 remain active, pointed out the Seremi de Salud, Alejandro García.

Given the increase in infections, the Health Authority expressed its concern about the risk situations that are seen daily in the streets and mainly inside the houses themselves.

“Most of the active cases that we have are associated with family outbreaks. We need people to understand that Covid is still present and that is why we should not relax. When we go out on the street and especially when we are at home and meet other family members. At all times we must wear a mask, wash our hands and always tend to physical distancing. We do not want to go back in the Step by Step Plan, that is why the call is for prevention and self-care “, declared Seremi Alejandro Garcia

For his part, the Director (S) of the Coquimbo Health Service, Edgardo González, delivered a report of patients hospitalized by Covid-19 in the region, informing that “15 people remain hospitalized as a result of the virus, of which 4 are serious and connected to mechanical ventilation: 2 at the Hospital de Coquimbo and 2 at the Hospital de Ovalle ”.

Regarding the occupation of beds, the authority detailed that it reaches 74%. “This means that of the 1,169 beds currently endowed, 286 are available, and in relation to the beds in the Critical Patient Units, today we have 5 ICU beds, which are those with mechanical ventilators, and 8 ICU beds, the which have 91% and 88% occupancy, respectively, ”he said.

Finally, in relation to the report of health personnel affected by the virus, 12 officials from the Health Service and hospitals have tested positive, and 33 are in quarantine. While, in Primary Health Care, 3 officials have tested positive for the virus and 15 remain in quarantine ”.
