In a new health balance, health authorities reported this Sunday that three people died from the coronavirus and 28 new cases of Covid are registered in the Coquimbo region.
“We regret to report the death of three people due to Covid-19, with residence records in the communes of La Serena, Coquimbo and Monte Patria. We send condolences to their relatives and loved ones,” said the Seremi de Salud, Alejandro García .
Likewise, the authority provided the detail of new cases by commune, detailing that 28 new cases are registered, reaching a total of 12,476 accumulated cases, of which 389 remain with active contagion. “Regarding the new cases, 8 correspond to La Serena, 12 to Coquimbo, 1 to Andacollo, 2 to Illapel, 1 to Ovalle, 2 to Monte Patria and 2 without registration in the Epivigila system,” explained the Health Authority.
45 people hospitalized for Covid-19 in the region
For his part, the Director (S) of the Coquimbo Health Service, Edgardo González, delivered the balance of the Assistance Network, informing that today the occupation of beds reaches 74%. “Of the 1,209 beds currently endowed, 290 are available. And in relation to the beds in the Critical Patient Units, we have 5 ICU beds, which are those with mechanical ventilators, and 12 ICUs, “he said.
Regarding the report of patients hospitalized by Covid-19 in the region, the authority reported that “45 people remain hospitalized as a result of the virus, of which 14 are serious and connected to mechanical ventilation: 1 in the Coquimbo Hospital, 3 in the La Serena Hospital, 4 in the Ovalle Hospital, 5 in the Contingency Hospital and 1 in the Elqui Health Network clinic. In addition, I would like to inform that we have 28 people in home hospitalization as a result of Covid-19 ”, he concluded.
