Moisés Orellana was killed by hooded men who shot him. This was told by the two friends with whom he was in a vehicle, who survived the attack.

Preliminary antecedents indicate that, in the midst of this flight, the attackers found a vehicle parked in the Suspension Bridge sector from the same commune, with three occupants inside, who, as stated, they were in the place sharing a few beers.

PDI investigates link between both events

The case was taken up by the Investigation police, that he ordered two brigades to investigate the events: one the arson attack and the other the murder, in order to establish their effective link.

The concrete thing, so far, is that the hooded men “intimidated the inhabitants of three cabins and then set fire to said buildings and in the flight they stole two vehicles, in which they mobilized, “said the subprefect Carlos Díaz, from the PDI’s Macrozona Sur Prefecture.

“In a second fact, young people who were inside a vehicle about six kilometers from the first place were found with hooded men, who, after a small altercation, proceeded to shoot one of these young men, who unfortunately received a ballistic impact on the head. This police is investigating the connection of this first event with this second and regrettable death, “said Díaz.

So far no people have been detained.

“Vindicated in the people who are on hunger strike”

He Undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli, said the burning of huts was claimed by its authors, alluding to the situation of the Mapuche prisoners on hunger strike.

“Today at dawn, a 21-year-old young man from Cañetino died from shots perpetrated against him. I want to regret, with pain, that the death of a person is caused by a conflict in which he had no part. (The crime) occurs under circumstances in which, just prior to those events (the murder) they had attacked three cabins, they had taken a family from their home to burn those cabins, and This attack was vindicated and justified in the application of Convention 169 (of the ILO) and in the people who are deprived of liberty and who are on hunger strike today“Galli said.

The authority then emphasized that “no demand, no matter how legitimate, justifies these levels of violence; even less when today we have to mourn the death of a 21-year-old Cañetino as a result of an armed attack “.
