143 foreign citizens who committed serious crimes will be expelled during this day.
The operation, which was in charge of the Investigative Police and which was supervised by the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, and the undersecretary of the portfolio, Juan Francisco Galli, began this morning in Group 10 of the Fach.
44 of these people will be transferred by land to their countries of origin, Peru and Bolivia, while the rest will do so by air to Colombia, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. As explained, the expulsions take place as a commutation of the sentences that the expelled had in our country. Along these lines, they will not be able to enter the country in 10 years.
In addition, it was reported that about 1,500 people who committed crimes have been expelled this year.
The Interior Minister, Rodrigo Delgado, stated that “lhe people who come to Chile to look for work or family opportunities, and who fall within the current legislation today will always have the opportunity to do so. These expulsions are not for administrative reasons. It is not because a person entered the country clandestinely or because he lacks some precedent to continue in Chile. You have to be very clear: The people who are being expelled today are people who came to Chile to commit crimes”.
The minister explained that to carry out these operations a model will be developed where charter flights will be tendered “to make this process much faster in the future. It is a fairly innovative model to continue advancing in something that we believe is very important ”.
The director of the PDI, Héctor Espinosa, said that “with this we are fulfilling as PDI our role, which is to give effectiveness to the law and remove these criminals from circulation and they have come to our country to commit crimes. There are a large number of crimes for drug trafficking and robberies with intimidation ”.
