Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes has continued to work to advance the Social Justice movement, even getting NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
The quarterback discussed that and related topics Wednesday on Fox Sports’ Undisputed:
Mahomes notes that he and others helped those in the organization register to vote and said he intends to expand that into the community.
“I’m excited we’ve had these conversations, but now it’s about going out and acting and doing what it takes to make the community a better place for everyone,” he said.
Mahomes has taken on a prominent role in pushing for change after the assassination of George Floyd, who died May 25 while on duty at the Minneapolis Police Department.
Not only did he discuss the issue social media, but he was also one of several notable players to call the NFL for not saying “Black lives matter.”
Goodell responded with a video, acknowledging past mistakes and encouraging players to speak out:
NFL @NFL
We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black people. We, the NFL, admit that we were wrong not to listen to NFL players before and encourage everyone to speak out and protest peacefully. We, the NFL, believe in Black Lives Matter. #InspireChange https://t.co/ENWQP8A0sv
It appears that Mahomes and the other players are pushing their teams and the NFL to help create change.
