Chevrolet has just revealed that its future plans require a 400-mile electric van. Details are sparse, but this truck will challenge the electric Ford F-150, Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and more.
The news of this Chevy electric truck comes through the launch of its annual sustainability report. Inside that 2019 report that was released yesterday, there is new information about the Chevy electric truck.
This is not the first time we have heard a mention of Chevy making an electric van in the future, but it is the first time that even a little information has been revealed. Chevrolet had previously confirmed plans to build an electric truck at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant beginning in late 2021.
The new information simply indicates that the Chevy truck will be of the full-size variety and that its target range is at least 400 miles on a full charge. Of course, we can safely assume that the van will use GM’s new Ultium platform and battery technology, as we know that the GMC Hummer electric van and SUV will also feature Ultium.
Here’s the actual wording about GM’s Chevy electric truck in its sustainability report:
Chevrolet BET Truck, which will be the brand’s first full-size electric van, offering more than 400 miles of range on a single charge.
And that’s the only mention, which is why, as we said, details are very scarce right now.
We welcome you to another entry into the future electric truck segment, which is sure to be among the best electric vehicle segments in the US market.
