Rose McGowan had some vocabulary for Alyssa Milano on Friday night, including accusing her former co-star of fostering a ‘toxic’ environment on the set of Charmed.
After accusing Milan of stealing activist Tarana Burke’s #MeToo and co-opting the movement for notoriety, they revolved around the years they worked together Charmed. McGowan and Milano play five sisters Paige and Phoebe on Aaron Spelling’s World Cup drama for five seasons (2001–2006); McGowan’s character was created to fill the void left by outgoing cast member Shannen Doherty.
“You did 250k a week Charmed, ” McGowan tweeted. “You threw a fit for the crew and wrote, ‘They don’t pay me enough to do this!’ “Terrible behavior on a daily basis. I cried every time we were renewed because you made that set toxic AF.”
McGowan’s allegations were in response to Tweeting from Milano, “Rose and anyone who exposes the same ‘dOmOcRaTs DON’T HELP PEOPLE’ nonsense, your lies will hurt people less privilege than you. It’s the kind of thing a CURRENT fraud would do. Thousands of people die every day, but you keep up with your hyperbolic attention-seeking tweets. ”
And this is hardly the first instance of drama within the Charmed cast. Doherty’s exit is notoriously confirmed for behind-the-scenes conflicts with Milano, though specifications of her feud remain somewhat unclear.
Holly Marie Combs, who faced McGowan and Milano as Piper, tweeted back to several fans about McGowan and Milano’s similarities – and just like her middle-sister character, she played peacemaker.
“We are all different and stand up for our own faith,” she wrote. ‘That’s the kind of independence the show stood for and we stand for now. It is actually quite fitting that we are different and not otherwise as imagined. ‘
