Charlize Theron celebrates her 45th birthday with her daughters and ‘First Virtual Party’

Happy Birthday, Charlize Theron!

The actress turned Friday 45 on Friday and marked the occasion in true quarantine fashion: with a Zoom birthday party. “My first virtual birthday party … I think my mom fell asleep for 5 minutes,” Theron joked on Instagram next to a photo of the virtual celebration.


“Thank you everyone for the wishes of the day!” de Mad Max: Fury Road star remained in the title. “2020 has been rough, but today was for sure a bright spot.”

Theron’s fellow actors wish her a happy birthday in the comments section of the post, with Reese Witherspoon writing, “happy birthday to the farthest queen of them all! ✨👑 ❤️”.

“Happy Birthday love !!,” Jones commented, while Jessica Chastain added, “Happy Birthday !!!! 😘❤”

The photo from Theron’s party shows the star in the bottom right laughing with her two daughters – Aug. 5, and Jackson, 8.

The mother of two recently opened up to PEOPLE about how she encourages her daughters, who are black, to feel empowered amid the ongoing protests over police brutality and race money.

The Old Guard actress and producer said in July that despite the fact that they “had to have really tough conversations” with August and Jackson “in the last few months,” almost about some of the ugly things happening in our world, ” really stepped up and took the initiative.
