Chambers resigns as men’s basketball coach


University Park, Pa. – Vice President of Intercolleg Athletics Sandy Barber Head men’s basketball coach Pat Pat Chambers today accepted his resignation following an internal investigation into new allegations of misconduct by the chambers. The new allegations surfaced shortly after Unfinded’s article and was jointly reviewed by Penn State’s Affidavit Action and Athletics Integrity Office Fees.

Barbour has been appointed assistant coach Jim Ferry As the interim head coach for the 2020-21 season. Ferry has 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 19 years as head coach with a recent tenure at Ducson in 2012-17.

Chambers served as Penn State’s men’s basketball head coach for nine seasons, setting a record of 148-150. He guided the Knights ’Lions to the 2017-18 Knights Championship with a 26-18 record. The 2019-20 Penn State basketball team set a 21-10 record and is preparing to enter the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Outside of court, Chambers was active in the Penn State chapter of Cons vs. Cancer, where he was honored with the 2019 Coach vs. Cancer Collegiate Champion Award nationally.
