Anticipation continues to build for Carnival Cruise Line’s new cruise ship Mardi Gras to enter service in the coming years and for good reason. The ship will presumably BOLT, the world’s first and fastest rollercoaster at sea.
Mardi Gras Cruise Director Matt Mitcham recently paid a visit to the BOLT test track in Munich, Germany to take a preview of the first-of-its-kind ride, which will take riders over 700 feet of track up to 180 feet above sea level.
“For people who love roller coasters like ours, we think this will be the most amazing experience we can actually have on a ship,” said Steve Boney, Maurer Business Development. “Every time you go the ship will move to another port and you will have a different view and a different moment. Then, of course, you master it yourself. So all the other coastal lanes where you’ve been, you strap in and out. wait for the experience. Here you are a part of the experience. The two-person coaster in the motorcycle is all-electric and lets riders control their own speed so they can compete with others for the fastest time around the track, which will provide a 360-degree view of the ocean.
BOLT will also have a digital speedometer with speeds of up to 40 mph and speakers with sound effects along with built-in cameras that will capture riders in action. Guests can then download the photos and share them with their friends and family.
