Cardi B responds to Carol Baskin’s ‘WAP’ critique: “That’s just ridiculous”

Cardi B has responded to criticism from Tiger King‘s Carol Baskin, after the CEO of Big Cat Rescue called her out for the use of big cats in the music video for her and Megan Thee Stallion’s new single ‘WAP’.

In a statement written to Billboard, Baskin said that on top of her concerns about the welfare of the animals when recording the recordings, she felt that the clip could “glamorize” the idea of having them as pets.

“My opinion is that most people will not even see the Photoshopped cats in the scenes because the rest are so lurid,” the Tiger King subject said. “I was happy to see that it all looks like Photoshopped. It did not look like the cats were really in the rooms with the singers. In fact, most rooms are often Photoshopped via green screen. ”

In a new interview, Cardi spoke on Baskin’s remarks, calling them ‘ridiculous’, before taking her own whip. “I’m not talking to Carole Baskin about it,” Cardi said iD. ‘Like, that’s just ridiculous, you know? O Lord. Like, girl you killed your damn man. ”

In Netflix’s Tiger King, Baskin’s rival Joe Exotic claims that Baskin murdered her husband, Jack “Don” Lewis, who disappeared in 1997. Baskin has always denied that she was involved in Lewis’ disappearance.

Earlier in the interview, Cardi addressed the backlog that the ‘WAP’ video has received from conservative men on the internet, including the American commentator Ben Shapiro.

“I’m honestly surprised by the reaction,” she said. ‘I knew it would have a big impact, I think, because of me and Megan. But I did not know it would be so controversial. I never thought you, you know, Conservatives and Republicans would talk about the song.

‘I did not think the song was as vulgar as they said it was, you know? Like, I’m so used to it. I’m such a freak that I did not think it would be a big deal. I did not think people would think it was so out of this world. ”

“I always encourage people to be self-aware, especially when it comes to your sexuality,” Cardi added. ‘Some of these men are uncomfortable, they are not even comfortable to be sensual. Maybe you’re conservative, but everyone got a little freak in them, you know? Every single person. Everyone gets horny, everyone gets a little tingling underneath, you know what I’m saying. Just embrace it. Do not be afraid of it. ‘

Earlier this week, Cardi defended the casting of Kylie Jenner in the music video ‘WAP’ after a number of fans wondered about her recording, as every other comeo was made by a musician.

The video, directed by Collin Tille, features a host of famous comedians including Normani, Rosalía, Sukihana, Mulatto and Rubi Rose.

Meanwhile, the rapper has partnered with online subscription platform OnlyFans “to unleash behind-the-scenes content, address persistent rumors and connect more closely with [her] fans. ”

OnlyFans, the subscription site that “enables content creators to monetize their influence” and is already known for adult content, has drawn the rapper from New York on its platform, where fans can sign up to share their posts and broadcasts shown for $ 4.99 (£ 3.82) a month.
