Is there a better equalizer for cars of all shapes and sizes than the moose test? In the span of just one second, the inherent balance and handling characteristics of a car are revealed. Oversteer, understeer, and weight transport are not measured for maximum performance on a track, but for control in emergency situations. As such, shiny machines that you would expect to perform well do not always – therefore it is an equalizer.
We have presented many videos of km77.com shows of cars tackling the oldest, and the latter is probably the hottest hot hatch of them all. The Mercedes-AMG A45 S packs an oversized 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that sends 415 horsepower (309 kilowatts) to all four wheels via an automatic dual-clutch automatic. It’s fast, and on a track it can dance with sharp handling, like glorious tire-smoking power slides. In the real world, the moose test suggests that it’s not too bad.
The maximum speed reached for a clean run was 75 km / h (47 mph), which the video says was a bit lower than expected considering the car’s grippy tires. However, the A45 S was said to be smooth and easy to control while wandering in case of emergency, which is what you want in such a situation. Mild to moderate understeer is seen on the second steering input, but it is quickly scrubbed through the rear as in a tap of excess steps. Starting from the maneuver, the A45 S looks relatively neutral, with perhaps just a smidge more overdrive before the car goes straight.
The clip ends with the A45 S with a more traditional slalom. The video praises the hot breakfast because it is quick and smooth through the transitions, similar to its performance in the moose test. The driver enters the course at the same speed of 75 km / h, but shoots it a little higher near the end. Underestimated growth with speed, but overall the mini-Merc turned into a solid performance.
