Call of Duty: Warzone has been piling up to seemingly big changes to the game’s Verdansk map, and it looks like it will finally be delivered next season.
Very little has changed in Verdansk since its launch, the Battle Royale map in Call of Duty: Warzone.
Although you could consider that the metagame in execution of blocked bunkers and such is the way to evolve the map, outside the opening of some of the bunkers, the design remained the same at all times. Now, according to VGC, the map can finally see significant changes in Season 5.
The site says the changes will be twofold. First, the stadium, which is located near the gaming idle area, will open to reveal a large interior where players can find loot and fight. In fact, this particular change has been brought about through a recently released official screenshot, which also shows hard cables that we are likely to use to climb to the top of the stadium as we can do today with tall buildings through the pits of the elevators.
The report also says that a running train will be added to the map, which players will be able to board and loot, similar to the moving trains in Apex Legends and, more recently, PUBG. This is all part of a map update meant to join the upcoming Call of Duty game, which is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
References to the protagonist of the Black Ops series, Frank Woods, were recently extracted from the game’s archives. The unearthed voice lines are said to belong to Season 5’s main operator, who is believed to be Woods himself.
As previously confirmed, Activision plans to have Warzone live alongside future Call of Duty games, so expect more content to come from the next game and beyond. How this is all going to play is still unclear, given that Warzone is built on Infinity Ward technology and Modern Warfare mechanics, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Season 5 begins on August 4.
