Call Of Duty Warzone Reveal Event: Here’s what happened to the Nuke

It’s over: The Call of Duty: Warzone reveals events for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War concluded, leading to the unveiling of a new trailer and our first glimpse at the Cold War campaign and multiplayer. The nature of the Cold War revelation was much different from the standard Call of Duty game, and this was a much different kind of event for Call of Duty than we have ever seen before. It sent Warzone players scrambling to secure control of a weapon before first looking at the next game in the series.

There has been speculation for some time that the secret nuclear weapon hidden on Warzone’s Verdansk map would be unveiled at some point. With Activision confirming that the revelation of the Cold War would happen in the game, it seemed as if that detonation would lead to some change in the map. It temporarily changed exactly how to interact with Warzone, although things are now back to normal.

Following a playlist update, all default playlists were temporarily removed in favor of a special called Know Your History. By diving in, you are able to collect and attempt four objectives, called “Steps to Freedom:”

  • Collect the card codes
  • Secure the key
  • Crack the card code
  • Handle the weapon

All squads in the game struggled to do this, killing other players, collecting the key, and eventually meeting returning Black Ops character Frank Woods. He gives you a new weapon, Bay of Pigs, that you can see below. It’s a legendary blueprint for the SKS that unlocks for regular use in the game.

During the game, players are periodically shown video overlays and interference with various messages and characters. Once times pass – you will see a timer just below the minimap – everyone is warned to take shelter in the stadium. Once you make it inside, the game turns into the trailer for the Cold War Cold War Ops, which ends with a look at multiplayer – which will be fully explored on September 9th. We know Zombies is making a comeback, but it’s unclear if it will be part of that particular event.
