California theme park, sports stadium may reopen in the middle of COVID

California theme parks and sports stadiums will be allowed to welcome visitors faster than expected under the new guidelines unveiled on Friday.

The changes do not mean that they will normally be traded on large capacity facilities, they reflect the growing sentiment of the state that, despite declining case rates and the ongoing Covid-11 vaccine rollout, it is now possible to resume some activities. Especially those that may be sitting outside with additional safety changes.

“During the epidemic, California’s business community is committed to protecting the health and safety of workers and consumers – and that will not change,” said D. D. Myers, senior government adviser. Gavin News, director of business and economic development at the governor’s office, said in a statement on Friday. “We will continue to work with our partners in all sectors of the economy, as we reopen safely, sustainably and evenly.”

Beginning April 1, amusement parks will be eligible to reopen with limited capacity in counties that are in the red tier – the second to reopen in California’s four-tier re-class.

Capacity for red level parks will be limited to 15%; Once the county progresses to the orange level and reaches 35% after reaching the most comfortable level, yellow.

Officials said attendance would be limited to visitors to the state. Other restrictions would include no limits on indoor dining and indoor rides, although details were not immediately available.

Outdoor sports – with fans – and live performances will also be allowed to resume April 1, subject to the following limitations:

  • Strictly, for purple-colored counties, capacity will be limited to 100 people or less, and attendance will be regionally limited. Advanced reservations will be required, and there will be no discounts or lump sum sales.
  • At the red level, capacity will be limited to 20%, mainly with in-seat concession sales.
  • The capacity limit will increase to 33 33% for orange level counties and 67 67% for yellow ones. Attendance will be limited to visitors in the red, orange and yellow state.

Counties that have entered the red tire include Santa Clara, home to California’s great America.

The three counties in Southern California – Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties – are in purple and will not be able to open immediately. That depends on how soon the parts will be opened, while California could give a further 400,000 vaccines to people living in the lowest-income areas of the state, bringing a wider relaxation to the opening criteria.

Even when meeting state thresholds, counties have the right to impose stricter limits than authorized by the state.

The changes are being made with a clear understanding that maintaining fresh circulating air, masking and maintaining physical distance helps the coronavirus to make a volatile transition, News Administration officials said.

“With a significant reduction in case rates and hospital admissions, three highly effective vaccines and targeted efforts aimed at vaccinating highly vulnerable communities, California can slowly and safely bring back more activities, especially those that become suburban and where continuous masking is possible. “Even with these changes, California retains some of the strongest public health protocols in the country,” California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Galli said in a statement.

The announcement represents the most aggressive relaxation of California coronavirus restrictions since the epidemic began.

Under the state’s original blueprint, large amusements and theme parks such as Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain will not be allowed to reopen until their home county reaches the yellow level – requiring an adjusted coronavirus case rate of less than 1 new case per day. Will remain. Per 100,000 people.

The red level, by comparison, requires a daily coronavirus case rate of 100,000 people per day adjusted to 7.0 new cases or below.

It should be easier to reach the red level under the second change unveiled by the state this week.

California will now dedicate 40% of the available Covid-19 vaccine to residents of the state’s most deprived areas – including South Los Angeles, East LA, Coritown, Compton, Southeast LA County, Santa Ana and Eastern San Fernando Valley.

Once these communities are given 2 million doses, the state will lower the threshold for entering the red level, with counties progressing at a rate of up to 10 days per 100,000 people.

Los Angeles and Orange Counties – home to some of California’s largest and most beloved theme parks – meet the criteria for an already revised case, making them in a position to move to the red level within a week or two.
