With theme parks open in Florida, California residents are envious of seeing theme parks reopen when it’s safe enough to do so. In a new report from the The Orange County Register, California officials are investigating how and when to reopen parks such as Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
In a statement to the OCR, a spokeswoman for California Health and Human Services stated that although theme parks are not yet allowed to open in California, they check health data to determine when and how theme parks “may again be considered lower risk for staff and visitors.”
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure reopened on July 17 before plans for the indefinite period were delayed. Currently, only the Downtown Disney District shopping and dining complex is open, with new health and safety guidelines in place. Similarly, only Universal CityWalk Hollywood is open at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Theme parks may reopen in California during Phase 3 of the four-stage roadmap as a ‘higher risk’ business, along with salons and gyms.
