Actor Chris Pine, known for his appearances in productions such as Princess Diary 2, Star Trek and Wonder Woman, is in talks to star in a remake of The Saints, Variety reports.

Pine, 39, talks about the role of Simon Templar, better known as the Saint, a character from Robin Hood, who targets corrupt politicians, drug dealers, and other criminals.

The new version will be directed by Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) and the script by Seth Graham-Smith. The distributor of the film will be “Paramount Pictures”.

Several actors have been embodied in the image of the Saint. According to critics, the most memorable performance was featured by Roger Moore in a television series from the 1960s.

In the 1997 film, The Saint is portrayed by Val Kilmer. Critics say his game lacks the humor and wit that characterizes previous incarnations, BTA reports. For his role, Kilmer was nominated for the “Golden Raspberry” award for worst actor.

In the context of a pandemic of the new coronavirus that has halted production for film and television productions, it is unclear when photos of the remake of the Saints will begin.
