BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ makes YouTube history with over 100 million views in 24 hours


BTS has made history again, this time with the best 24-hour debut of a music video on YouTube with their new song “Dynamite,” on August 21st.

“We can confirm that BTS (방탄 소년단) ‘Dynamite’ Official MV has set a new 24-hour record, overcoming 100M views with 101.1m views in the first 24 hours,” a YouTube spokesperson said. Forbes via a statement.

“Dynamite,” the septet’s first all-English single, arrived last week to bring its bright disco-pop vibes to the end of summer 2020.

In addition, YouTube adds that ‘We can confirm that BTS (방탄 소년단)’ Dynamite ‘Official MV has set a new all-time record for the biggest music video Premiere with more than 3M picks at a time [views]. The streaming platform also added that fans should, “Stay tuned as we confirm the final total of 24 hours.”

BLACKPINK held the previous YouTube record for a premiere for their recent song “How You Like That.”

YouTube also shared that details on how views are counted here can be found.

As of the time of publication on August 23, the view count on YouTube recorded more than 163 million watches of the latest hit from BTS.

This latest album is just one of many that “Dynamite” is expected to break, as the song’s popularity sets it up to become one of the act’s highest charting singles ever – if not her highest ever – on international music charts, including the Stateside Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“Dynamite” is coming out on BTS’s upcoming album which is currently in the works, which will arrive later this year. According to the members of the act, the single is set to help reenergize those struggling with life in 2020, in light of the global coronavirus pandemic. To continue the feel-good times, EDM and acoustic remixes of the song are set for August 24, giving the world two new tasks on “Dynamite.”
