BTS confirms new English single for August ahead of next album

BTS is preparing to return with new music soon with an upcoming song with special meaning.

While talking to fans during an unannounced V Live audio broadcast, the seven members unexpectedly announced their plans to release a new English single the next month before a new album. The new digital single will be released on Korean and international streaming sites on Friday, August 21.

According to the conversation between the seven members during their live broadcast, they felt that the “optimistic” single could offer a “breakthrough” and good energy to people around the world who are affected by the current situation, referring to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. Member V shared that the demo track was originally in English and the band itself felt that the lyrics “sounded perfect” as it is, marking what might be the first time that the entire group performed on a track entirely in English. This would follow their Steve Aoki collaboration “Waste It on Me,” which was officially credited to BTS as a full group, but did not feature the voice of all members.

Sure, an accessible and fun summer song could help BTS achieve even newer goals. Searching for a track in English could create additional opportunities on more traditional platforms like radio (which continues to provide them with a disproportionate amount of attention based on their chart success) and television. Plus, having BTS’s fan base ARMY focus their energy on a single, versus an entire album, as has been the standard for most BTS releases, could make the song hit incredible new highs. The announcement’s emphasis on being a digital single also seems to indicate that streaming will be an important component of the new track’s strategy, a key area that continues to grow for BTS and its fans.

The BTS guys added that they are preparing to release a new album that will be released in the second half of the year. This would follow her record Soul Map: 7 studio album that was released only in February.

“We also needed a breakthrough during these unforeseen times, so we worked on this new song,” they shared. “This is also a new challenge for us. When we first heard and recorded the song, we were energized and our spirits rose. We can’t wait to share this song with all of you. ”

The plans were confirmed by his Korean record label Big Hit Entertainment in a follow-up announcement. “We would like to thank the entire ARMY for their continued affection for BTS, and we ask for their love and support for the new digital single that will be released soon,” Big Hit wrote in the official app for BTS WeVerse fan club.
