Even children with mild or no symptoms can spread Covid-19, according to contact information from three Utah child care facilities released Friday.

Twelve babies, including an eight-month-old baby, found Covid-19 in a child care facility and spread to at least 12 people outside the facilities. The data show that children can carry the virus from child care settings into their homes, the researchers wrote in a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In their report, colleagues from the CDC’s Quick Tran and Salt Lake County Health Department wrote:

Covid-19 is less severe in children than in adults, but children can still play a role in transmission. ”

According to the American American Academy of Pediatrics and Children’s Hospital Association, half a million U.S. Children have been diagnosed with coronavirus, an increase of 16% between August 20 and September 3.

Fewer children than adults experience a serious illness from the virus, however, one question that has grown, especially those struggling with decisions about resuming school and day care, is the role of children in the transmission of the virus.
