Brad Pitt stars in Bullet Train David Leitch directs Sony Pictures film – Deadline

Brad Pitt is ready to star Bullet train, the Sony Pictures action film just made by director David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2 and Fast and Furious Gifts: Hobbs and Shaw.

Zak Olkewicz wrote the script, based on the Japanese novel Maria beetle by Kotaro Isaka. In the novel, five assassins are found on a fast-moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with only a few stops in between. They discover that their missions are not related to each other. The question is: who will leave the train alive and what awaits them at the terminal station?

Pitt comes from an Oscar-winning performance in the Quentin Tarantino-directed film Once upon a time in Hollywood. The actor is reaffirming his dance card, looking at various projects but only committing to this one for now. A start date is expected later this year.

The project was originally developed by Antoine Fuqua with Kat Samick of Fuqua Films, and they are producing alongside Leitch and Kelly McCormick (Atomic blonde) through his company 87North. Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada of CTB Inc are executive producers and representatives of Isaka and the IP. Leitch is supervising a rewrite by Olkewicz to prepare the film.

Brittany Morrissey is the executive who oversees the project for Sony Pictures. Pitt is represented by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Harvill Secker will publish the novel Bullet train in English next year.
