Bollywood’s Aishwarya Rai and her 8-year-old daughter Aaradhya test positive for coronavirus


Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai tested positive for coronavirus a day after her actor, husband and father were admitted to the hospital with the virus.

Miss World’s former eight-year-old daughter Aaradhya, who shares with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, 44, also tested positive.

It comes after her father-in-law, Indian acting superstar Amitabh, 77, was shot dead with the virus.

Abhishek tweeted on Sunday: ‘Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested positive on COVID-19. They will be quarantined at home … The rest of the family, including my mother, have tested negative.

Abhishek said that he and his father were positive, but both cases were mild.

He said: ‘My father and I remain in the hospital until the doctors decide otherwise. Everyone, please be cautious and safe. Please follow all the rules!

Aishwarya took the Miss World crown in 1994 and made her acting debut in the late 1990s.

She then became one of the most famous Bollywood faces abroad, as well as in India, and has been a regular on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. She married Abhishek Bachchan in 2007.

Old Bachchan, idolized in India and affectionately known as ‘Big B’, has a career of more than four decades in the film industry.

He was voted “actor of the millennium” in an online BBC poll in 1999 and became the first Indian actor to obtain a likeness at London’s Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Abhishek previously wrote on Twitter: “ Earlier today, both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us with mild symptoms have been admitted to the hospital.

‘We have informed all required authorities and our family and staff are being tested. I ask everyone to remain calm and not panic. Thank you.’

Amitabh is married to the actress, and current Member of Parliament Jaya Bachchan (nee Bhaduri), the couple married in 1973 and they share their daughter Shweta and their son.
