BMW M3 Touring Does not come to the US

Earlier today, BMW announced that it would build a production M3 Touring, giving a wish made by enthusiasts around the world for decades. With a twin-turbo right-six under the hood that produces at least 480 horsepower, it is set to be one of the coolest cars in BMW’s lineup. But, as with most cool European performance cars, it will not be sold in North America.

A North American spokesman confirmed that Road and rail via email, the company has no plans to import the M3 Touring into the US. This makes sense if you are no longer selling the regular 3-Series wagon here, and not one of the car’s main competitors – the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Wagon and Audi RS 4 Avant – are being sold here. And if you have paid attention to how many wagons are sold in America, you will understand why BMW decided not to go ahead with the attempt to bring this one to our shores. Of course, none of this makes the news any less heartbreaking.

So if you were planning to allocate some money for an M3 wagon in preparation for its launch in 2022, you are in luck. If your heart is still set on a fast European wagon, you have a few other options, namely the Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, and the Audi RS 6 Avant – the Volvo is the only car in the estimated price of the M3 range.
