Time to go back to where it all started. Netflix has announced that The Wizard you’re getting a limited series of six parts, The Witcher: Blood Origin, which tells the story of the first of its kind.

According to a press release sent by email, The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place 1,200 years before the events of the Netflix series directed by Henry Cavill. Set in the elven world that has been largely lost to history, Blood origin will focus on the events that led to the worlds of humans, elves and monsters uniting, also known as the “conjunction of the spheres”.

The Wizard Writer Declan de Barra will serve as showrunner for this limited series, with The Wizard showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich coming on board as executive producer. Series author Andrzej Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant. In a statement, de Barra said he was excited to explore the origins of the Witcher tradition, as well as what Elvish society was like before humanity came along and changed everything.

“A question has been burning in my mind since the first time I read The Wizard books: What was the elven world really like before the cataclysmic arrival of humans? I have always been fascinated by the rise and fall of civilizations, how science, discovery, and culture flourish just before that fall. How vast expanses of knowledge are lost forever in such a short time, often compounded by colonization and a rewriting of history. Leaving only fragments of the true story of a civilization behind, ”he said.

The Witcher: Blood Origin It’s not the only one Sorcerer spin-off in the works. There’s also The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime that will tell the story of Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir. The second season of The Wizard it is getting ready to resume production, after a pause due to the new coronavirus pandemic. There is no news of an expected release date for Blood origin.
