Biden uses quote made in particular by Mao Zedong during big money fundraiser: reports

Alleged Democratic candidate Joe Biden raised his eyebrows Monday when he echoed the rhetoric that was famous for Chinese Communist dictator Mao Zedong, according to reports.

Biden conducted a digital fundraiser with former President Obama’s adviser, Valerie Jarrett. According to Edward-Isaac Dovere of The Atlantic, the former vice president “quoted an old Chinese proverb” while discussing economic relief for women during a question-and-answer session.

“We have to get real economic relief in the hands of women now,” Biden reportedly said, and then said “women hold half of heaven.”

However, the saying “women hold half the sky” is not a proverb, but a famous proclamation made by Mao about 70 years ago, when he proclaimed gender equality at the beginning of his rule.

Biden was reportedly talking about how the financial turmoil caused by the coronavirus outbreak has disproportionately affected women, saying, “For the first time, an economic crisis is affecting female-dominated industries.”

China has become a political problem during the electoral cycle, with the Biden and Trump campaigns accusing the other of being weak towards the communist nation. President Trump criticized the former vice president for his son Hunter Biden’s financial ties to China, while Biden repeatedly chased him for congratulating Chinese President Xi Jinping on his handling of the coronavirus outbreak in the first few weeks.
