Biden says he’s eager to compare “cognitive ability” to Trump’s

Joe Biden, at his first press conference in three months, defended his cognitive ability and said he “can hardly wait” to compare it to that of President Trump as the confrontation in the general election heats up.

“They’ve tested me, they test me constantly,” Biden said in response to a question from Doug McKelway of Fox News. “Look, all you have to do is look at me and I can’t wait to compare my cognitive ability with the cognitive ability of the man I’m running against.”

While Biden’s press conference in Delaware was apparently about how he would respond to the coronavirus pandemic, the former vice president also criticized the current occupant of the White House for his response to reports that Russian intelligence agents offered to pay rewards to Taliban-linked militants who killed the United States. troops in Afghanistan.

Biden said Tuesday that it was unimaginable that Trump had not known about intelligence, and questioned the president’s cognitive abilities.

“The president talks about cognitive ability, but he is not cognitively aware of what is happening,” Biden said, reversing a blow the president has used against him.

Biden also asked Congress to investigate the matter and, when election day arrives, “so that the public can decide if he is fit for office.”

Trump, 74, and his campaign have come after Biden, 77, for his frequent mistakes, in May launching a bogus “investigation” series highlighting his numerous verbal errors in the election campaign.

“The American people deserve to know the truth behind Joe Biden’s delusional and pointless claims about the campaign,” Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said in the video. “When he’s tearing up the text of the Declaration of Independence or calling someone a ‘lying dog-faced pony soldier,’ is he really speaking a language that only he and a select group of others understand?”

However, Biden opened up in February about his life-long fight to overcome stuttering, and his advocates have argued that this can sometimes be a factor in his widely publicized stumbling-out story.

Trump has had his own share of Twitter mistakes, embellished statements, and typos.
