Beyond Skyrim’s mod reveals first look at Black Marsh expansion

The team behind the fan-made Elder Scrolls: Skyrim mod, Beyond Skyrim, has provided a first look at its upcoming Black Marsh expansion.

Fans of Elder Scrolls will probably have a long wait for them on The Elder Scrolls 6, with Bethesda even saying that we will not be hearing any news about this anytime soon.

In the meantime, fans can scratch their itch for a new Elder Scrolls experience with the incredibly ambitious Beyond Skyrim fan-made mod for Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

The aim of the mod is to include whole new areas in the game, namely the other provinces of Tamriel, the continent of which Skyrim is a part.

In the team’s latest development update, we took our first look at the Black Marsh, a location that has not appeared in the mainline games since its 1994 title.

The update video feels like it could have come from a professional studio, delivering detailed glimpses into thin swamps, rustic cities, concept art for enemies, and the reptilian inhabitants, known as the Argonians.

As exciting as this can be, it’s probably not a time to give up pretty soon, because it’s a fan made, with the expansion of the Black Marsh only a year in development.

Beyond Skyrim also has several other projects in the works, with work being done on other provinces such as Morrowind and Cyrodiil.

So far, the only released expansion has been one for the province of Bruma, which is part of Cyrodiil.

More details can be found on the official website, but fans can take some comfort in the fact that these future expansions are likely ahead of Elder Scrolls 6.
