Beijing asks residents to put up for the holidays

BEIJING (AP) – Beijing has urged not to leave the city during the lunar New Year holiday in February, imposing new sanctions after some coronavirus infections last week.

Two domestic cases were reported Friday, a convenience store worker and a Hewlett-Packard enterprise employee. Two other asymptomatic cases were found in Beijing earlier this week.

Beijing is conducting tests on a limited basis in the neighborhoods and workplaces where such cases have been found.

For any new outbreak, the Beijing government canceled large gatherings such as sporting events and temple fairs. He says requests for any major events will be strictly reviewed. Places like cinemas, libraries and museums have to work at 75% capacity, the government said.

Companies have been asked not to arrange business trips outside the city and even abroad.

Lunar New Year is February 12th.

In addition, officials in the northeastern port city of Dalian said Friday they have tested 75.7575 million people for coronavirus after 24 confirmed infections this month.

Officials have closed schools and all public spaces in five neighborhoods in Dalian, and only essential workers can leave their combinations to go to work.
