Antoine Griezmann would be willing to move to Manchester United this summer if he has to leave Barcelona, according to reports.
The World Cup winner made waves with his massive £ 108m move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona in the summer, but things have not gone as planned since his arrival at Camp Nou.
Griezmann has scored just eight La Liga goals so far, with his last shot eight games ago, and the Catalans now appear destined to lose the league title to bitter rival Real Madrid after losing points in two consecutive games.
The Frenchman did not start in any of those matches and it seems that a crack has been formed with manager Quique Setien. As a result, reports in Spain from Mundo Deportivo suggest that he could leave Barcelona after just one season.
It is reported that if Barça are looking to move on with Griezmann, then they would be willing to switch to the Premier League with United or their neighboring Manchester City. However, it is later claimed that Setien is more likely to have a quick exit from the club and Griezmann will have a chance to start again with whoever his replacement is.
While United expects to increase their attacking ranks this summer, MEN Sport does not understand that Griezmann is the club’s current target.
Griezmann is now 29, outside United’s ideal age range for transfers, and the club would prefer to recruit top local talents in the summer transfer window.
That would include players like Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, for example, although United reportedly has until early September to complete a deal for the winger.
The 20-year-old is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main target, but German publication WAZ reported that Dortmund will hold on to the England international if a deal is not completed before the start of the league’s new season in September.
The summer transfer window will remain open until October 5, but it is suggested that Dortmund will not entertain any player sales once the Bundesliga returns a month earlier.
