Ajinkya Rahane was Virat Kohli’s substitute in the Test series against Australia. In Virat’s absence, he will lead the remaining three tests. According to the Indian Cricket Control Board, Cheteshwar Pujara is the co-captain of the Indian team in the series.

When playing a test series at home, no one is normally advertised as a co-captain. However, when they were playing abroad, the selectors and management announced the name of the vice captain.

Pujara is the oldest member of the team. He made his Test debut in 2010. He also took India to a private test. However, he does not lead the Saurashtra state team as he does not play national cricket all the time.
