Balan Wonderworld: the creators of Sonic are making a theatrical action game for Xbox Series X

Two of the original creators of Sonic the Hedgehog – main programmer Yuji Naka and character designer Naoto Ohshima are coming together to create a new “theatrical” action platform game called Balan Wonderworld, which will launch on Xbox Series X and Xbox One in the spring of 2021.

Balan Wonderworld marks the first time the duo has worked together on a project since they created Sonic More than two years ago. Yuji Naka will direct the next title, while Naoto Ohshima, who originally designed characters like Sonic and Dr. Eggman, will also work on the title.

The game is set in the “World of Wonders” and inspired by the theater, with the protagonists Leo and Emma playing through 12 different stories, directed by the “mysterious clown” Balan. Players will be able to collect over 80 different costumes to unlock new abilities as they travel through the colorful, almost Marioancient worlds along the way.

Balan Wonderworld It is the first game from the Balan Company, and it will be published by Square Enix in the spring of 2021.
