On Saturday there was a go-ahead regarding corona infections at two gyms in Wiener Neustadt. However, the city had to warn of the renewed danger of a cluster. Four restaurant guests on Herrengasse, the city’s party mile, are infected with Covid-19.
The people who were in Herrengasse last Saturday night were called to monitor their health through a call to the media. If symptoms of Corona disease develop, such as a sore throat, fever, or loss of sense of taste, people should contact Health Council 1450 immediately, which is recommended.
No waiters
The four people involved are not local employees, says the Wiener Neustadt city council. “All four are at home in the communities around Wiener Neustadt and in Burgenland,” a spokesman said. A direct connection to corona infections that became known in a city gym can also be ruled out.
As reported, one of the recreational athletes who tested positive works as a waiter at Herrengasse. In the course of a massive test, all wait staff on the local mile were also tested. The city council spokesperson reported that not a single infected person was discovered.
Gyms
As for the two affected gyms, on Saturday no other patients showed up. After three tested positive at a club of 643 clients, 68 tests at the other gym showed no infection, according to medical staff Saturday. Around 100 people were called to investigate.
All those affected had been in the gym Monday morning, at the same time as a man later found to have Covid-19. The examinations were held on Thursday in the Wiener Neustädter Arena Nova area. In another much larger case involving a gym in the legal city, 717 people were summoned for testing. They came from the Wiener Neustadt, Neunkirchen, Baden, Bruck ad Leitha districts and the Burgenland districts of Mattersburg, Eisenstadt, Eisenstadt-Umgebung and Oberpullendorf.
