Sturm had to play for a long time in the extra game at Wolfsberg, but caught up with Salzburg 0-0.
Wolfsberg. After just four weeks, the ball was rolling again in the national Bundesliga, responsible for the supplementary match between WAC and Sturm am Sonntag. For Graz it was the opportunity to push Salzburg from first place in the table. It shouldn’t be enough for the retroactive winter crown, but at 0-0, Sturm caught up with the leaders in points. “A good point for us. The stumbling block was the early dismissal of forward Amadou Dante. The 20-year-old Malian awkwardly dropped Dario Vizinger on the edge of the penalty area and saw red (28th). WAC captain Michael Liendl took the penalty but missed with a weak shot to Jörg Siebenhandl. The goalkeeper also held out against Dejan Joveljic (32nd) and continued his strong form in the autumn without problems. Not surprisingly Graz have conceded five goals so far, by far the best defense in the league.
Outnumbered, Sturm retreated far behind, lurking on the counterattack: Stefan Hierländer awarded the dangerous first (62nd). The Wolfsbergers took even longer, against Vizinger again Siebenhandl saved with a brilliant save (76). Until the very end, many tackles and fouls slowed the flow of the game, the number zero was the logical consequence.
