Crans-Montana – Italian ski racer Sofia Goggia wrote the history of blue skiing with her downhill success on Sunday. Her victory was also the 100th win for an Italian woman in a Ski World Cup race. The athlete from Bergamo was happy for her fourth consecutive win, her third place in the general classification and the fact that Elena Curtoni also had a partner on the podium.

Sofia Goggia has already won three races at Crans-Montana. Without a doubt, she can be described as the most perfect downhill runner today. Almost everything is decided in the battle for the little crystal ball. The Italian ski racer is 195 points ahead of American Breezy Johnson, who finished fifth after four third places in a row today with three races to go.

Goggia, the 2018 Olympic champion, did something even the great Isolde Kostner did not. The Val Gardena woman was never able to win four races in one year. Even if the lighting conditions for the lower start numbers were anything but ideal on Saturday, the Italian was superior in all respects.

For Goggia, the Ski World Championship is still a long way off. She looks from day to day and first wants to achieve maximum performance in the Ski World Cup. Tomorrow the next race in Switzerland is scheduled. And chances are high that we will see the 101st World Cup victory of an Italian woman in a ski race.
