Bernhard Gruber celebrated a strong comeback at the World Cup circus on Saturday in Lahti. Together with Mario Seidl, he won the Nordic combined team sprint jumping competition for the first time in Lahti and then finished sixth. Norwegian winners Jörgen Graabak / Jarl Magnus Riiber fell short by 25.9 seconds. In the end, they were just 0.8 seconds ahead of German Fabian Rießle / Vinzenz Geiger.

Japan was third (+2.5 seconds). Austria’s second team with Lukas Klapfer / Thomas Jöbstl finished eighth, 1: 30.7 minutes behind.

For Gruber, ten months after his heart operation, it was like a victory to be among the best in the world. Together with Seidl he was the first to hit the track, but only one second before Germany II and four before Japan I and Germany II.
