After the New Years Day sprints, the Tour de Ski continued with distance races on Saturday. There were no surprises in the Swiss Val Müstair, just off the border with the Vinschgau valley.

In the men’s category, top seed Alexander Bolshunov won over 15 kilometers in classic style. The Russian had narrowly missed the sprint victory on New Year’s Day, and has now achieved his first success in 2021. Behind the newly crowned 24-year-old, Dario Cologna (Switzerland) and Ivan Yakimushkin (Russia) crossed the finish line with a considerable difference of 23 and 25 seconds respectively. Bolshunov now leads the Tour rankings.
The best Azzurro was Francesco De Fabiani in 25th place, Federico Pellegrino landed in 28th position. No one from South Tyrol was there: Michael Hellweger, the only starter on the tour, left after Friday’s sprint.
In the women’s race of more than 10 kilometers there was a fast-paced final, in which the Swede Linn Svahn edged Yulia Stupak (Russia) by 0.7 seconds and Jessie Diggins (United States) by 0.8 seconds. For Svahn it was the second success in a row after winning the sprint on New Year’s Day.
