LH Markus Wallner’s New Years speech – Vorarlberg –

This time it would demand a lot from everyone, but it is still important to look at the new year “with confidence and hope,” said the governor, with a view to an imminent change in trend in the crown crisis: hand to end the pandemic. Wallner expressed his appreciation to all those who accomplished extraordinary things in 2020.

In “very different ways” the effects of the corona pandemic would still be felt “privately, in the family but also professionally,” the governor said at the beginning of his statements on the situation. “It was particularly challenging for all of us.” It’s probably the same right now, Wallner commented: “To be honest with me too: we just want to get rid of this virus again. The faster the better.”

For the governor, the pandemic made it clear that “our own personal health is our greatest asset and we must do everything possible to protect it.” In this context, his announcement for 2021 is emphatically combative: “We will not let this pandemic depress us.” For the first time, we have the ability to end the pandemic with voluntary vaccines and tests.

In this context, Wallner thanked everyone who would make an important contribution every day: “at work, in the family, in the club, in volunteer work in general, precisely where it is important in Vorarlberg”. The governor stressed that none of this should be taken for granted. “Support families, reduce the number of unemployed and stimulate the economy, the economy, support companies, return Vorarlberg to the old strength,” he stated as common goals for 2021. “It was a difficult time that restricted us all. But in the end we came out stronger, ”Wallner hopes with a positive outlook in a few years.

It’s about balancing and looking at all generations, the governor made clear in his short video contribution. On the one hand, it is about protecting older generations. “With the same intensity”, however, the chances of the youngest should be placed at the center, explained Wallner: “It is about all generations and young people should not lose their opportunities.”

“Let’s look at the new year with confidence,” Wallner appeals to the people of Vorarlberg. For 2021 he wished “above all health, personally good luck and good luck. Take care of yourself, be patient and all the best for next year ”.
