Why did the chancellor warn of so many deaths? Armin Wolf asked forcefully in “ZiB 2”, with explanations that Kurz also brought his emotions into play.
The interview given by Foreign Minister Sebastián Kurz on Wednesday night to Armin Wolf lasted just under 20 minutes. In it he spoke about the tax relief that could come this year (“The press” had previously reported), contradicted rumors of new elections (“this is absurd”) and left some things open with unemployment benefits. What’s New: Wolf asked the Chancellor very strictly about the drastic measures that had been in place in Austria for many weeks.
Government politicians are now being slowly treated again in the ORF as before Corona, because the number of interruptions by the interviewer was inversely proportional to the number of new infections in the country. So Wolf followed the chancellor’s much-quoted phrase that soon everyone in Austria would know someone who died of Corona. “You said that here on March 30 here at ORF, even though it was completely unrealistic at the time given the data. Why?”
