German handball players prematurely missed their World Cup quarter-final goal in Egypt. With 26:30 (10:16) between Poland and Hungary, the selection of national coach Alfred Gislason no longer has the possibility of making the planned jump to the round of 16.

Following the surprising 19:23 (12:12) bankruptcy against Argentina, national coach Lino Cervar surprisingly announced his resignation at the end of the World Cup in a live interview on Czech television.

“That is a disappointment. I take responsibility, whatever happens,” said Cervar, 70, after the bitter loss to the “Gauchos” of HRT television and kept his statement when asked. “A coach whose team is playing a postseason like they did today shouldn’t coach that team.”
