The prescribed quarantine measures in relation to coronavirus infections in Salzburg schools had to be extended to another class on Monday. And the number of infected people at Red Bull Academy (Cluster E) is also increasing.

There are more cases of Covid in schools in the city of Salzburg. On Sunday, the health authority of the city of Salzburg imposed a quarantine on six other classes from different schools. In one case, not only students and teachers are affected, but parents too: a mother had accompanied her daughter to the Mirabell School campus on the first day of school. As it turned out later, mother and daughter were already infected with the corona virus at that time.

The city’s health authority has now quarantined the students and all other parents who had accompanied the first-grade students. Three classes from BG Zaunergasse and two classes from ABZ St. Josef are also affected by the segregation measures.

And on Monday, the authorities reported the following case: Another class of the school (the thirteenth in total), including teachers, must be subject to the crown traffic restrictions by ordinance. It is class 2 SP of the commercial school II Salzburg on Johann-Brunauer-Straße in the district of Lehen.

Cluster E: already 35 infected

In relation to Cluster E, the city of Salzburg announced on Monday evening that 35 people had already tested positive. This affects the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg-Liefering. A youth ice hockey team from the club was infected during a test trip to the Czech Republic. On Friday of the previous week, authorities initially reported 28 positive cases.

The total number of people infected with Covid-19 in the city of Salzburg increased to 119 people as of September 21, 2020.

After a second pedagogue tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 at the Stadt kindergarten in Saalfelden and there are more suspected cases, the health authority of the Zell am See district authority ordered on Sunday that the kindergarten should be closed temporarily.

The Federal Army supports the city of Salzburg

To cope with the great effort involved in registering the contact persons of infected people, the city of Salzburg has expanded the deployment of assistance from the armed forces. Ten soldiers will continue to support the health authority.

The city of Salzburg is also considering a further tightening: before the new crown measures take effect across the country on Monday, many young people celebrated until 1 a.m. on the weekend in Rudolfskai pubs. Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP) said on Sunday that he would like to advance the curfew until midnight. However, the legal framework is still missing.

This should soon be available in parliament for resolution. “After everything I saw at Rudolfskai at the weekend, we have to take this step and advance the curfew.” As soon as possible, the police and magistrate will jointly verify that the curfew is respected after there are indications that the party continues after 1 a.m., Preuner says.
