While Bundesliga clubs are back on the field in their native Germany, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp is still doomed to stay home in England.

“You get jealous when you see and hear how they train in Germany, when they started and when players can at least train in groups of two,” Klopp explains on a podcast from his former club Borussia Dortmund.

“It is human to think, ‘That would be fine now,” said Klopp, who reports: “We are still in the correct lockdown. That is why we sit at home in sensational weather, which is not normal in England.”

Liverpool FC are also disappointed by a warning from Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson before resuming play in English professional football. On the BBC, Anderson had expressed concern that Liverpool fans might gather in front of the stadium en masse if the “Reds” won the long-awaited championship title.

“There are not many people who stick to what we say and stay away from the stadium,” said Anderson. “A lot of people would come to celebrate.” According to Anderson, this would also be the case if the games take place behind closed doors and in a neutral location. “Even then, thousands of people would appear around Anfield,” he said, speaking of a “ridiculous” situation.

The club responded Thursday. There is no evidence to support Anderson’s claims. Last season’s Champions League winner also referred to recent conversations with the mayor about possible ghost games. Liverpool FC is also in contact with fan groups. These agreed to adhere to the necessary distance regulations.

The leaders of the English league, Liverpool, are only two more short of securing their first championship title in 30 years. The 20 Premier League clubs plan to discuss a continuation of the season that ended on March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic in a video conference on Friday.

According to constant media reports, the clubs aim to start the games in mid-June. However, the prerequisite is that the government and health experts agree.
