About 1,200 people insured with a heart attack are said to have entered the hospital in March 2018, and about 1,100 in March 2019. This year, however, only about 800. Andreas Storm, DAK board member : “This huge difference is particularly concerning in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.” Storm continued: “There can always be deviations from the average. But this significant decrease is very noticeable.”
Make an emergency call immediately if you experience symptoms of a heart attack
Heart attack symptoms should be taken very seriously and even if you suspect, call an emergency doctor immediately. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, clinics are also prepared for cardiac and other emergencies. According to DAK-Gesundheit, around 300,000 people suffer a heart attack in Germany every year, and around 50,000 die from it.
