The Turn 10 Studios are currently working on the next part of the Forza Motorsport series. According to Klobrille, a generally well-informed expert at Xbox Game Studios, the studio has increased the number of employees. Meanwhile, the gaming smithy has never been bigger. Last known number of employees: In October 2014 (between Forza Motorsport 5 and 6) the study employed about 100 full-time employees and between 100 and 200 “temporary employees”. LinkedIn currently has 129 employees, and the company is classified in the “201 to 500 employees” category. The studio, founded in 2001, is said to be working on Forza’s most ambitious motorsports project to date.

Consequently, all assets (graphics and Co.) for the game are created using photogrammetry. In photogrammetry (many) photos of objects to measure or photograph are taken in the real world. In order for all object details to be captured ideally, (many) photographs should be taken from different perspectives. Using special software, these images are stitched together and processed into 3D digital objects, something like panoramic photography with different individual images, but from a 3D object.

Also, it is very likely that the sky (skybox) in the racing game is made with 3D cloud technology, which could be based on Red Dead Redemption 2. According to Klobrille, the developers have started working on a new rendering technology for sky and clouds. At the moment, the ForzaTech engine is using smart but flat HDR technology for the sky. In the next part, however, clouds must be rendered in real time, which would form the basis for better and more realistic lighting.
