Black Wings invited a press conference of an unusual kind in times of the crown crisis and the ice hockey dispute with EHV Linz.

Questions had to be submitted in writing in advance, the answers were in the form of a video by President Peter Freunschlag and General Manager Gregor Baumgartner. The first was extremely aggressive.

“One club is enough”

“I don’t think about giving up the presidency at all. I am in the process of reshaping the ‘Black Wings’ and taking them to the top,” said the head of the Wings. He said he was ready to commit to the opposition, but made it clear: “One ice hockey club for Linz is enough, one second really doesn’t have a place.”

Already next season, the new form should also bear fruit thanks to the new sponsors who have signed up: “Gregor Baumgartner will form a competitive team that will compete for the title.”

Baumgartner himself spoke of a concept for one or three years. If the dispute continues, it certainly is a competitive disadvantage: “At this point the transfer window closes, but as soon as it opens we will be at a disadvantage, especially for domestic players.” He created a profile: “It should no longer be the case that the coach determines the path. The club must have a clear identity. “

Preliminary contracts for players.

Freunschlag confirmed his statement at VOLKSBLATT two and a half weeks ago that three-quarters of the team were on their feet: “We take care of the players signing preliminary contracts and then a big contract after the holidays.”

When it came to Halle, the president said there was a valid contract, but that it had to be adapted due to structural additions. In the event that a room is not available, the league license will be suspended but not lost. He also made it clear: “I am sure the youngsters will stay at the club.”
