The Netflix broadcast service removed a documentary about Danish underwater farmer Peter Madsen convicted of murder. Swedish television SVT reported on Wednesday.
Madsen had killed Swedish journalist Kim Wall in his submarine in August 2017 and has to pay a life sentence for this.
Australian director Emma Sullivan had accompanied Madsen and her assistant before and after the crime. Originally, the documentary was supposed to be about the inventor’s missile plans. The film premiered at the American Sundance Film Festival in January. It should be shown on Netflix later this year.
According to the media report, several people in the documentation asked to be clipped or anonymized. Netflix confirmed to the SVT that it did not want to broadcast the movie titled “Into the deep”. The broadcast provider declined to comment on the reasons. In February, director Sullivan told film magazine “Ekko” that “all participants voluntarily participated in the documentation and gave interviews for several years.”
