According to the Ministry of Health, Austria is significantly increasing the vaccination rate. Currently, an average of 33,446 daily vaccinations are carried out, 1.1 million people have received at least one dose of vaccination.
This corresponds to 14.5 percent of the vaccinable population. The goal of vaccinating 70 percent of the adult population has thus been achieved by 21 percent, they say.
The vaccination rate should increase rapidly.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) promises that these numbers will increase much faster in the coming weeks. There are two reasons for this:
- The time interval between the first and second vaccination for the BioNTech / Pfizer and Moderna vaccines has been extended from three to four to six weeks. With that the the first dose of vaccination much faster administered.
- And the Delivery volume tripled 2nd quarter, that is, from April, compared to 1st quarter. In the next three months, around 6.9 million doses of vaccine are expected in Austria.
Age groups: when is it whose turn?
Also, the ministry promises more certainty on another point: when it comes to which age group.
- One likes until the end of april the population group of People over 65 have been vaccinated.
- For Ende Mai should be the group of over 55 years old the minister promises to have been vaccinated.
- For End of June or beginning of July should two thirds of the population receive at least the first vaccination. That’s the vaccination quota we are aiming for, according to Anschober: “This means that our next vaccination targets can clearly be achieved.”
1.7 million doses of vaccines delivered so far
So far, 1.7 million doses of vaccination have been delivered to Austria and they have already been vaccinated or prepared for vaccination campaigns in the coming days, it is said.
By far the largest number of deliveries was made by BioNTech / Pfizer (1.1 million doses of vaccine). Another 408,000 doses of vaccines came from Astra Zeneca and 196,000 from Moderna.
Carinthia is vaccinated faster than expected
At least Carinthia confirmed that the vaccination rate is already increasing.
In the southern state, 100,000 is Saturday. A vaccination sting has been administered. This is ahead of the vaccination plan, which has planned 40,000 individual vaccinations by the twelfth calendar week: “We were able to immunize significantly more and we have exceeded our own forecasts,” said health official Beate Prettner (SPÖ) in an online press conference. . With these figures, Carinthia is “at the top of the field” throughout Austria, Prettner stressed.
In homes, 80 percent of residents are currently vaccinated, so far 70 percent of staff have been immunized. According to Prettner, this area should be completed in 14 days.
